NLCDC is a non-profit organization that offers all programs free to participants. Volunteers are at the essential core of our success. Whatever your skills and talents might be, we would love to find a place for you to serve at NLCDC. All volunteers are required to have a national, fingerprinting, background check. NLCDC covers the cost of all background checks.
Here are a few ways you can get involved as a volunteer:
- Assist in classrooms
- Share your skills and expertise to educate students in that field
- Serve as hall monitors
- Chaperone field trips
- Assist with community service projects
- Mentor a student
- Perform office / administrative duties

Parent Empowerment Sessions
NLCDC is committed to giving parents the opportunity to be involved in their students’ lives and to participate in educational workshops and empowerment sessions.
Topics include:
- GED prep courses
- First time homeowners
- Financial literacy
- Credit recovery
- Dealing with gang violence
- Sex education

Annual Lights on After School 5K Run/Walk
Lights on Out of School is an annual fundraiser celebrating Next Level Community Development Center’s FREE afterschool and summer program. The annual run/walk will become a hallmark of the organization bringing awareness to the importance of out-of-school programming. Funds raised during the run/walk will assist in providing a high level of academic instruction, youth development, and college/career readiness activities to youth falling 150% below the national poverty level and at risk of academic failure. The organization’s mission is to Educate, Enlighten, and Empower youth and families to make healthy lifestyle choices.
If you would like to register for the race, please register before September 24, 2021, to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Online registration is $30.00. Paper and same day registration fees are $33.50.

Pre-packet pick-up will be Thursday, October 7th from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00p.m. to 8:00pm at Bibb Mount Zion Baptist Church, 3268 Avondale Mill Rd, Macon, GA 31216. You may also receive your packet the morning of the race (October 9th) starting at 6:30 a.m. at Amerson River Park. Race day registration will also open on October 9th at 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
